the good stuff
It’s been a difficult few weeks and months for many of us, including me. The details of my particular struggles aren’t relevant for this post but, what is, is how we continue to keep going. While many things are outside our control, I’ve been doing my best to do what I can in the space where I am.
Two such focus areas are looking for the lessons (What can I learn from this? How can what is happening now help me in the future?) and taking time to remind myself of the good stuff, essentially a point-in-time list of gratitude and positivity. Following is my good stuff for the past week.
A partner who is supportive, kind and understanding
A pup who makes it difficult not to see that there is good in the world
A home that I love
Available resources to help make me feel better (e.g., meditation, floats)
A strong and capable body that can support me in sweating it out
A support system of friends and family
Opportunities and options
A city ripe with activities and people watching
Ellie on the mend
A slow Saturday morning
A comfortable bed
Trying a new way to move my body (and a painful yet good reminder of the many muscles in my body)
A plethora of TV shows and podcasts that let me escape when I really need it
Kind strangers
Rest as a method of healing
Bookstores and libraries
Music
Local coffee shops
Communities that make you feel like you belong
Connections
Progress — no matter how small
On-time flights
The stateside return of my favorite human
